Lord, you have searched me and you know me. You know when I sit and when I lie, you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and lying down; you are familiar with all my ways.
This passage is the opening to psalm 139. This psalm is about the omniscience of God in our lives. I take special comfort from the fact that God is familiar with all my ways. And that He is never far from me. He knows me inside and out.
God is not a man, that he should lie nor a son of man, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?
God is almighty. He does not make a mistake all the time and His plan fulfills through people. We cannot see beyond our nose, so it is blessed to live walking with God on our daily life.
David again brought together all the able young men of Israel – thirty thousand. He and all his men went to Baalah in Judah to bring up from there the ark of God, which is called by the Name, the name of the LORD Almighty, who is enthroned between the cherubim on the ark. They set the ark of God on a new cart and brought it from the house of Abinadab, which was on the hill. Uzzah and Ahio, sons of Abinadab, were guiding the new cart with the ark of God on it, and Ahio was walking in front of it. David and all Israel were celebrating with all their might before the LORD, with castanets, harps, lyres, timbrels, sistrums and cymbals. When they came to the Threshing floor of Nakon, Uzzah reached out and took hold of the ark of God, because the oxen stumbled. The LORD’s anger burned against Uzzah because of his irreverent act; therefore God struck him down, and he died there beside the ark of God. Then David was angry because the LORD’s wrath had broken out against Uzzah, and to this day that place is called Perez Uzzah. David was afraid of the LORD that day and said, “How can the ark of the LORD ever come to me?” He was not willing to take the ark of the LORD to be with him in the Cityof David. Instead, he took it to the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite. The ark of the LORD remained in the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite for three months, and the LORD blessed him and his entire household.
2 Samuel 6:1-11
Like you know, this story about Uzzah who tried to catch the ark of God and died. The reason that God killed Uzzah was because, they didn’t keep the commandment of Numbers 4:15. But it wasn’t only Uzzah’s fault. It was also Israelites fault who did’t carry it the way God asked them to. They just used a new cart. In Exodus 25, we know that the ark of God had rings? Each side of the ark. Because people of Kohath had to carry it (the ring part?) with their shoulders. But they didn’t keep what the Lord say and used a new cart. That’s why the ark of God fell down. When we see that scene, it seems there’s no problem of carrying the Ark of God. But we know that the steps are wrong. When we worship at church, we worship as a habit. These days, I’ve been thinking if Im worshiping God like that too. After i read this scripture, i reminded myself that when i worship, i will put all my heart and get excited of worship time!
Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.
God told us to keep his commandments for reasons.
To transform us more like Jesus. 2. As an armor of God.
